The region

The wine-growing region of the Wienerwald thermal region stretches from the southern outskirts of Vienna along a chain of hills to the region south of Baden. The vineyards are located at the foothills of the Wienerwald with the Anninger (674 m) as the highest peak in the region. This range of hills protects the vineyards against the westerly weather and the influence of the Pannonian climate takes effect in the east and south. There are 2332 ha of vineyards in the thermal region, which are managed by around 1300 winegrowing enterprises.
