Beethovenhaus Baden

The new Beethovenhaus Baden

Ludwig van Beethoven regularly took the waters in Baden. The city, which was the summer retreat of Emperor Franz and his family, was a place where the high nobility and bourgeoisie cavorted, among them the patrons of the great composer

Beethoven stayed in the house at Rathausgasse 10 in the summers of 1821, 1822 and 1823. During which time he wrote substantial parts of the 9th Symphony.
