Hernstein

Surrounded by the black pine forests of the Triestingtal valley lies the market town of Hernstein with the villages of Hernstein, Aigen, Alkersdorf, Neusiedl, Grillenberg, Kleinfeld and Pöllau.
Hernstein dates back to the rule of the Bavarian Counts of Falkenstein and Neuburg.
In 1125, the Falkenstein Reginold was documented as "Genannter de Harrandistein".
