Hirtenberg

Description

The village is located at the end of the Triesting Valley, where the Triesting, which comes from the Vienna Woods, flows into the Vienna Basin. The first documented spellings "Huottenberch" or "Huettenberch" in 1271 point to an Old High German call name "Huotto". The name "Huettenberg" was primarily a castle name that was later transferred to the farming settlement. Worth seeing here is the neo-Gothic parish church, which was donated on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph's reign in 1898.
