Kaiser-Jubiläumswarte am Eschenkogel

Description

The viewing platform, which was ceremoniously reopened in 2021, is the landmark of the Anninger and is enthroned on the Eschenkogel.

In 1878, a wooden viewing platform was erected by the Mödling Friends of Nature Association, the "Verein 1877". Almost 20 years later, the so-called "Sofienwarte" was replaced by a 16 m high iron viewing platform to mark the 50th anniversary of the government. Thanks to the "Verein 1877" (which still exists today) and the surrounding communities, the observatory was renovated to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Josef I. A new 20-metre-high solid iron construction with a dizzying and impressive viewing platform was erected and officially opened in 2021.

The Kaiser-Jubiläumswarte on the Eschenkogel is the landmark of the Anninger and impresses with a breathtaking view of Vienna and the Vienna Basin from the south/west.

The Kaiser-Jubiläumswarte is one of the 8 towers on the themed hike "The towers of the Vienna Woods".
