Kulturszene Kottingbrunn

Description

The "Kulturszene Kottingbrunn" association is THE local cultural provider in the idyllic setting of the moated castle of Kottingbrunn in southern Lower Austria. With around 150 events a year, it covers a wide range of cultural genres, from cabaret to concerts of various styles, theater performances and readings to exhibitions and lectures.

The varied, year-round program attracts many visitors to the two event venues "Kulturwerkstatt" and "Markowetztrakt" with well-known and talented artists. An important concern is to promote not only well-known artists but also new and unknown or young talents and to give them a stage. In addition to the two amateur theatre productions, the popular "September Theatre" is at the heart of the annual program.

The work was and still is strongly influenced by the commitment of volunteers from the region. Some of the volunteers have been part of the cultural scene since the founding year - since 1997 an initiative by the people of the region for the people of the region... and beyond.

DIE KULTURWERKSTATT - The outbuilding of the moated castle, originally known as the Schneiderecktrakt, used to house stables and has been calledSince the renovation work in 2005, it is now officially known as the "Kulturwerkstatt" and has also been designated a "Lower Austrian Kulturwerkstatt" by the state of Lower Austria. The variable stage and grandstand construction makes it possible to dress the hall in a wide variety of "clothes" and provides plenty of creative space for extraordinary stage experiences. The hall has up to 270 seats and a stage size of up to 5 x 12 meters. There is also a spacious foyer including a buffet for breaks and numerous seating options.

DER MARKOWETZTRAKT - The "Markowetztrakt", freshly renovated in 2019, is the smaller but charming second event space of Kulturszene Kottingbrunn with its originally preserved vaults and walls. It had a stage measuring 4 x 6 m and seating for up to 100 people. The cozy Tratschcafé is not only a buffet during breaks at events, but also invites you to enjoy the unique ambience of the moated castle over a cup of coffee throughout the week.
