Nature park of Föhrenberge

Description

The Föhrenberge Nature Park, an extensive forest area in the Vienna Woods, stretches from Mödling to the southern edge of Vienna. This area is known for its characteristic umbrella-shaped black pines, also known as 'paraplui trees'. They form the backdrop for the active Sparbach Nature Park. Numerous hiking trails lead through pine and beech forests, over gentle hills and to mountain huts. Another natural gem is the Perchtolsdorfer Heide, a dry grassland area that provides a habitat for the strictly protected ground squirrel.
