Pottendorfer Bahn

Description

Of the numerous railroad projects between 1870 and 1914 that would have affected Hennersdorf, one was realized: On September 10, 1872, Wiener Bankverein received the concession to build a single-track railroad line from Meidling (Vienna XII) to Pottendorf. The railroad line was opened on May 7, 1874; Hennersdorf was initially given a stop, then a fully-fledged station from 1875. The railroad connection was an important driving force for the brick industry in the village.
