Pfarrkirche St. Othmar

Description

Excavations carried out in 1982 revealed that there are no fewer than six predecessor churches below the current parish church, which were built from the 9th century onwards. An early high point was reached with a three-aisled church dating back to the 12th century. The church was first mentioned in a document in 1252, when the Hungarians attacked Mödling and destroyed the church.

As part of Mödling's 1100th anniversary celebrations, a remarkable Way of the Cross was created by Mödling painter Doris Reiser. The frescoed wayside shrines depict the Passion of Christ from the perspective of Jesus himself, making the journey along the fifteen stations a special experience.
