Wilhelmswarte

Description

The Wilhelmswarte is a ten-metre-high stone lookout point on the 675 m above sea level summit of the Hochanninger. A. high summit of the Hochanningers, the highest point of the Anninger in the municipality of Gaaden in the Vienna Woods.

The listed building is a geodesic fixed point and was named after Archduke Wilhelm, the patron of the association in 1877.
The design of the lookout point is special, as it resembles a lookout tower in the shape of a mountain fortress.

Unlike other lookout towers, you enter the stone tower via a door and climb up an old wooden staircase to the round stone platform.

The Wilhelmswarte impresses with its all-round view just above the treetops of the Vienna Woods Biosphere Reserve.

The Wilhemswarte is one of the 8 towers on the themed hike "The Towers of the Vienna Woods".
