Windradlteich Guntramsdorf
Description
The man-made Guntramsdorf windmill pond is located at the foot of the Eichkogel.
With around 1.8 hectares of water, surrounded by reeds and natural sunbathing areas, the sandy, gravelled bathing pond offers a welcome break from everyday life with its shady spots and a separate non-swimmer area. A playground with swings and a slide as well as a gravel beach for the little ones provide fun and variety.
The recreation area around the Windradlteich pond is not only suitable for swimming and relaxing. There are also several opportunities to take a walk around the pond and not only dip your feet in the water but also let your mind wander on one of the jetties.
The "Südufer", which opened in 2018, is located directly on the Windradlteich pond. The combination of bar and restaurant impresses with its intoxicating ambience, courteous service and numerous culinary delicacies on the menu.
Thanks to the Ringstrasse:
Such ponds were originally created in the south of Vienna due to the increased demand for clay, which was needed for brick production to build the Ringstrasse in Vienna, and are still a silent reminder of the reconstruction today.
