Altes Zechhaus

Description

The house at Kirchenplatz 1 is one of the oldest properties in Gumpoldskirchen to have been preserved in its original architectural style. Mentioned in documents as early as 1549, it was used to store wine and served as a meeting place for the "Zeche", i.e. the guilds, and later the "Leutgeben", the serving of wine, was added. In 1905, the Krug family took over the Winzerhaus. We have been serving guests here since 1970. And even today, our wine tavern still impresses with its particularly diverse ambience.

The Alte Zechhaus is the perfect place to enjoy the pleasures of life. Here we offer our guests traditional Heuriger culture at a high level. Typical delicacies meet Austrian classics, a wide selection of fish and meat dishes meet vegetarian specialties and delicious desserts. There are also seasonal specialties, such as asparagus, chanterelles, strawberries, porcini mushrooms, game or Martinigansl. It is not for nothing that we can also call ourselves a TOP wine tavern.

We always pay special attention to high quality, not only in wine growing, but also in the wine tavern. This starts with the ingredients, which come exclusively from the region or from the best Austrian producers. For example, we source our organic ham from Thum, our Vulcano ham from the Auersbach meat factory, our beef from Pöllau, our pork from the Weinviertel and our hay milk cheese and mountain cheese from the Paznaun Valley.

The Alte Zechhaus impresses with its variety of special places. You can take a seat in the old vaulted cellar from the 16th century, enjoy the historical ambience in the Gothic attic or the cozy atmosphere in the Stüberl. In fine weather, the choice is even greater with the shady inner courtyard and the newly renovated sun terrace. Come by and enjoy life with a delicious meal and a good glass of wine from KRUG.
