Burg Neuhaus und Pfarrkirche

Description

Neuhaus Castle and the parish church are remarkable sights in the Vienna Woods, nestled in an idyllic, wooded side valley to the north of the Triestingtal valley. Neuhaus Castle, which today serves as a cultural and event center, can be rented for various occasions. It offers a unique ambience for weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries, company celebrations, conferences, concerts and theater. The parish church, which is part of the castle, is situated on a rocky hill and is an important stop on the famous VIA SACRA pilgrimage route from Vienna to Mariazell. It was built in the late Gothic style as a Protestant house of prayer with a family crypt and is dedicated to St. John Nepomuk. The interior dates from the first half of the 18th century and the organ, a remarkable instrument, was built in 1891 by Johann Marcell Kauffmann. The history of the castle and the village of Neuhaus in the Vienna Woods, from its foundation to its recent revitalization, is documented in a book published in conjunction with the opening of the Neuhaus Castle Culture and Event Centre. Neuhaus Castle and the parish church are a must-see for every visitor to the region.
