Einödhöhle

Description

The starting point of the approx. 6 km long and easily accessible trail is the Wr. Neustädter Kanal or the "Tourismuszentrum Leutgebhaus Pfaffstätten" on the main square. Via the spacious children's adventure facility "Naturspielplatz Gfangl", the route continues to the "RebLounge" with its family-friendly culinary offerings and the "Wagenburg Lamasté".

After a few hundred meters, we reach the new "Bat Adventure Trail", an educational trail with impressive play and learning stations that introduces us to bats and leads us to the "Einödhöhlen" caves, which are home to these cave dwellers that are particularly worthy of protection. The Einödhöhle is the largest preserved young Tertiary surf cave on the western edge of the Vienna Basin and was declared a natural monument in 1949. The cave entrances and the surrounding areas are being redesigned as part of this project. In the vicinity of the "Einödhölen", an old forest playground will be converted into a "bat meadow" and equipped with appropriate play equipment. If you feel like it, you can go to the Rudolf Proksch hut (541 m above sea level) and enjoy the magnificent view from the historic viewing platform ("Klesheimwarte").
