Wallfahrtskirche St. Corona am Schöpfl
Description
As early as 1000 AD, pilgrims traveled to this remote, uninhabited area - called Heiligenbrunn - to experience relief and healing through the miraculous powers of the holy well there. Old crutches and votive offerings can still be seen in the church today.
In 1444, the Bishop of Passau built a chapel on the site of the spring, which was further extended in 1722 and dedicated to St. Corona.
Since 1972, St. Corona has also been part of the Altenmarkt municipality.
